Tel Aviv has its share of good restaurants some of which will be featured in future issues.

However, for a real treat or to celebrate a special occasion Omri Lachover, a young entrepreneur, promises a unique experience that no restaurant (in Tel Aviv or elsewhere) could provide on its own.

In about the same time it would take you to drive from Tel Aviv to Haifa; Lachover will fly you and your party to Rosh Pina, the first Jewish settlement in the Galilee. The village was established in 1882 and later became the administrative center for Baron Edmund de Rothschild's holdings. The new settlement derived its name from Psalm 118:22: "The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner" (rosh pina).

During the 45-minute flight from Tel Aviv's Sde Dov airport (or Herzelia airport) you'll receive a detailed explanation of the terrain below. Upon your arrival at Machanaim airport you'll be picked up and transported to a small cozy gourmet restaurant, called Rafa. The restaurant's location right at the restoration site of the of the old pioneers village, (which was declared a national historic site in 1972) affords visitors the opportunity for a leisurely stroll in what is unarguably Rosh Pina's true gem.

At Rafa's, a restaurant with a distinctly South American influence, you'll enjoy a full meal (order anything you want off the regular menu), including, appetizers, drinks, wine, and dessert. The house specialty is a type of stew-like casserole, but the menu features a full assortment of steaks in a variety of sauces. Vegetarians will also not leave Rafa's hungry. Aside from the food, one of the best things about Rafa's is the atmosphere. It's a small restaurant in an old stone building with interesting curves and arches.

When you're done with your lunch or dinner, as the case may be, your pilot (who by the way speaks seven languages) will fly you back to Tel Aviv via a different route, so that you can enjoy different views.

Prices are inclusive (flight and a full meal). However, fees are based on the size/type of plane. So in order to figure out the cost per person of the `package' you'll have to first determine the type of plane you'll need (based on the size of your party) and then simply divide the fee by the number of people.

Fees are per plane: For 3 passengers, Cessna - 1500 NIS For 5 passengers, Aztec - 2600 NIS For 9 passengers, Islander - 4630 NIS

Note: Bookings must be made in advance. Prices are subject to change based, in part, on current fuel rates and should be verified when booking.
