Throughout the year 2000 guides from the Society
for the Protection of Nature in Israel
will guide
marchers along 11 routes that were used during Jesus'
time. Proceeds from the marches will be donated to the
preservation of nature and the environment.
Following is a list of March routes:
Church of the Nativity to the Holy Sepulchure
A
difficult route (8 hours) for experienced hikers.
Subject to coordination with the Palestinian
Authority.
Convent of St. Elia to Abu Tor
A short (5 hour)
route.
Mt. Eitan to Ein Karem
A moderate route (6
hours).
Mt. Gilo to the Biblical Zoo of Jerusalem
Suitable
for families with children (6 hours). Subject to
coordination with the Palestinian Authority.
Nazareth the home of Joseph to Sephoris they home of
the Virgin Mary's family
A long difficult route (8
hours).
Sephoris to Amudim ruins
A long difficult route (9
hours).
Arbel to Magdala
Short (5 hour) route suitable for
the whole family.
Amudim ruins to Magdala
Long route for experienced
hikers (8 hours).
Karnei Hittin to Magdala
Moderate route, suitable
for families (6 hours)
Mt. Yona to Mt. Tabor
A long difficult route, for
experienced hikers (8 hours).
Yavne'el to the Southern shore of the Sea of
Galilee
A moderate route, (8 hours). More difficult
in summer.
Participation in the marches is $15 per person. There
are also packages that include transportation from Tel
Aviv and one two and three day packages that include
rural accommodations.
Marches will operate with a minimum of 50
participants.
