Editor's Note

Though this issue was written with Bar/Bat Mitzvah plans in mind, locations are suitable for events as varied as weddings, reunions and even business or academic receptions. (You’d be surprised what a special location can do for what otherwise might be a ‘stuffy’ event).

Organizing a special event includes many variables, location, food, music, number of guests etc. We’ve tried to not only provide ideas for locations, but give you some ideas of the costs that you might incurr in organizing an event in Israel. Ultimately costs will depend on the many choices that you make in planning your special event.

The locations featured in the issue are all outdoor venues – which means they are most suitable for events in summer months (although the locations are all open year-round).

Hopefully – we’ve whetted your appetite and you’ll consider Israel as an option for a place to celebrate this important ceremony – that marks the beginning of adulthood. Each of the places featured in this issue is well worth visiting – on its own, regardless of a special event.

We’ve included a Gems Quiz in this issue so read carefully; you might just win a Gems in Israel T-Shirt!

And finally, this month we welcome new subscribers from South Korea and Oman.
