If you visit Zichron Ya’acov on a Friday (and
it’s well worth planning it that way) – you can
attend an afternoon harp concert by Adina Haroz,
at Inbalim.
Located right on the main street, Ha’meyasdim
(Founder’s) Street , Inbalim is situated in the
Hershkovitz courtyard, one of settlement’s first
houses. Just seeing the courtyard, and the many
old farm instruments, that grace one of the
building’s walls, makes it worth stopping by.
The concert hall is not large, but a quaint
room with good acoustics. It seats roughly 60
people. Everything from the music to the hall’s
interior decoration bears Haroz’s stamp. She plays
a primarily classical repertoire interspersed with
Israeli and Irish and folk music. Haroz plays on
three different harps, a professional harp, a
troubadour harp and a small folk harp.
Concerts last from 40-60 minutes. During the
performance, Haroz manages to deftly provide
explanatory comments about the instruments she
uses and the differences between them. Her
explanations add rather than detract from her
performance, and are provided in both Hebrew and
English, based on the audience. To ensure that
explanations will in fact also be in English you
may want to mention that you do not speak Hebrew
fluently, when you purchase your tickets.
While the Friday concerts are on a walk-in
basis, it might be worth stopping by and getting
your ticket ahead of time. Concerts may also be
pre-arranged for groups or events.
Inbalim is located at 30 Ha’meyasdim Street,
just a few doors up the street from Beit
Ahronson.
