Carole Thomas, of Decatur, Illinois asked where
she could get high quality Armenian pottery at a
good price:
The original Armenian Pottery ("Jerusalem
Pottery") is: Stepan and Berj Avakian, Via
Dolorosa opposite VI Station, Old City,
Jerusalem
A relative of theirs has a studio near the
American Counsulate on Chomah haShlishit St. North
of the Old City near Nablus Road.
There is also a very fine shop in inside Jaffa
Gate on Armenian Quarter Rd. opposite the main
entrance to the Armenian Compound.
When buying Armenian pottery it is important to
know that many cheap imitations exist. Typically
found in the market the imitations may be
low-fired and may possibly contain lead-based
paint.
