Kibbutz Kfar Charuv, Israel

Since I was 10 I wanted to come to live in Israel.  For 10 years I saved everything I could about Israel.  At the end of High School I tried to come on a Year Course but my parents wouldn't pay.  After Collage I paid for myself by working in the dining room in the dorm and Arbby's at weekends.

At the age of 20 I finally got my dream. I landed in Israel on Simchat Tora in 1974.  I felt that I had come home.  I was on the second garin on Kibbutz Kutra, after 3 months I did an Ulpan on Kibbutz Galed.

The first Chanuka I saw the Sevivon and said to myself, "something is weird here".  Then I finally figured it out. The lettering was different.  The letter "shin" was a "pei".  Oh my g-d I thought, I did it, I am "po" (here) and not "sham" (there).

I have been living "po ve'sham"; ever since and haven't regretted it at all.  I have 4 kids moved Kibbutzim 5 times with the family. Have a son in the Tank core, am getting Chemotheropy for very active Cancer, and Every day I say THANK YOU that I am where I always wanted to be!
