Monkey Business

Located halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv the Monkey Park, at Kfar Daniel, near the Ben Shemen Forest – is a nicely landscaped park,which includes small ponds, waterfalls and a variety of trees. This is a great place to learn all about these most developed of mammals, monkeys.

Carnivorous Plants
Nepenthes 'Alata' On the outskirts of Hadera, at Moshav Talmei Elazar, Ada Barak, an agronomist and former landscape architect,has established a rather unique tourist attraction – a carnivorous plant nursery. But, this isn’t a place you simply come to buy plants. Ada puts on an hour- and-half long “show” – that includes snakes and frogs jumping out of plants, detailed explanations, and video screenings about carnivorous plants.

The Orange Path
Shvil Ha'tapuzim

“This is no Disneyland,”says co-owner of Shvil Ha’tapuzim (the Orange Path) just outside of Hadera. It’s a place where children between the ages of one to 12 can play outdoors,amidst the orange trees and participate in a variety of activities – while their parents quietly drink coffee in a converted citrus packinghouse built in 1910 during the Turkish era.

Zapari
Most Tel Avivian’s refer to it simply as Park Ha’Yarkon, but its official name is Ganei Yehoshua, named in honor of the late mayor Yehoshua Rabinowitz. Consider it Tel Aviv’s version of Central Park, except instead of being in the heart of the city – it is almost at its edge – as you head out in a northerly direction. The park offers kids of all ages a variety of outlets to exert their energies. However, the real Gem here is a place called the Zapari. An obvious play on the word tzipor (bird) and safari, it is a wonderful green oasis with a large topiary full of birds.

Capital Ideas - The Lions are Coming!
Generali Buidling Jaffa Street - Jerusalem Tel Aviv had penguins, Zurich had cows and now Jerusalem will have lions. That is, sculptures of lions. In March, the city of Jerusalem will launch an unprecedented domestic tourism campaign, geared at getting Israelis to come discover their capital city. As part of this effort, 80 lion sculptures, which have been painted by a variety of artists, will be displayed throughout the city and will ultimately be auctioned off.
